Smoke advice

First run of the season. Ran the Bluebeard from 3 Mile Harbor to my slip in Montauk with Randall. Cruised the 20+ miles at 21-22 kts @ 2400 rpm on my Cummins 210 6bt's. Ride was smooth purred into the harbor and into my slip, and we tied her up. Just before we left I started the engines up once more and to my surprise, I noticed the exhaust on my starboard engine was coming out on the black side. Sounded fine, not a huge black plume, but definitely blacker than normal. Had to leave as we had a ride back to 3 mile Harbor where our cars were, so I didn't open the hatch to look for something that might be obviously amiss. Any advice on what I should be looking for? Walter
