Stupid Deck Question

Okay so now I'm getting ready to install the new "Used Deck"?... As I look at the old deck its hard to see where the deck was supported on the outboard sides.
I assume it is the 1 x 6 board affixed to the outer Stringer, but that board is actually lower then the mufflers. I'm pretty sure this is correct but thought I'd ask prior to starting. Thinking about it it is the only thing there so it would have to be the support, unless it just hanges from the motor bulkhead to the transom shelf. With of course the inner stringer frame work, but that can't be right.

It's gotta have outbourd support...right?

What if you don't have outboard Joists
