Learning about sounders the hard way... *PIC*

Here is one lesson I could have avoided, if I would have put a little more thought into where I installed the transducer.
I installed it 36" forward of the stb outdrive, it's a large unit and I did not have enough room to install the high speed fairing because of lack of room for the bolt required in the front to lock it down and keeping the boat trailerable. Now, when I try to trim up my STB outdrive above 20 knots, it starts to cavitate. Oh yeah, I installed it with LOTS of 5200, this is gonna be fun to move.
I'm thinking of going shoot thru with on of the newer Airmar M260 thru the hull ducers, but Consumer's marine says I'll really be losing alot if I do that.
What do the faithful think? (Of the shoot thru vs finding a way to do the high speed fairing and not my silly and expensive mistake).
