Your right on allowing companies free will to write policies here. The coverage descriptions on my windstorm are like reading a brief from the court system.Of course it doesn't help when you have fema and insurance inspectors turning in claims for really non damaged items or items that were in disrepair anyway.
I think I'm the only house on my block that repaired the damage out of my pocket and didn't have a roof put on because nothing happened to it.
Two houses had the flat roofs ripped up, but most had no damage but issued new roofs either thru fema or their own insurance companies at our expense.The lady two doors down was issued a check for new wooden fence(it was rotten), a new roof(no damage), replace some windows and doors(no damage I could see) and when she got the $17,000 check, she bought a new mini van.
Gotta love our system.
