Interesting. I backflush my seawater section after each run and after each start-up at the dock. I then inject Salt-Tex or equivilant solution into the seawater section to remove/ preserve. 4 years now on my port still running at 168 degrees under load in calm seas. I removed all my componants on my starboard last winter (had a bad heat exchanger housing)since I was there and did the acid 50/50 bath on all cooling componants. The after cooler was also scrubbed with a nylon brush and mineral spirits. No cooling problems. I was also told what Bruce just recomended. In fact I was told "Do your cooling systems every 3-4 years and you will have virtually no cooling problems with most diesels"
I'm with you Bruce on the procedure.By the way we had on our air about Santoriums bill. I don't think it has a chance of passing. Dave K
