Those are the State of Florida (Division of Law Enforcement) assigned hull numbers. Your boat was made before HIN# had to be stamped on the transom. I have similar numbers on my registration papers, mine is a 1961 express and so does Ed Murray's old boat the Finest Kind a 1963 express. The last two #'s are the year the boat was made. They gave me the numbers at the tag office, their explanation was that there were duplicate three digit hull numbers out there on other 31 Bertrams. It's a 12 number series that conforms with Federal HIN# requirements. So the your legal and your surveyor should use them. As for the grey sticker mine's never be out of the envolope from 1996 and its almost completely faded out. Maybe you will find the original paper glassed over tag somewhere in your hull someday.
