shaft questions

Hey guys--
Doing some maint trying to get the redo done and I pulled the rudders and shafts on the 28B to replace cutlass bearings and noticed that the shafts show some wear where the packing was-- I am powered with 215 hp Fords with 1 1/8" shafts--(i know everyone says these are already too small--but I have put over 13,000 hrs on this original setup --testament to Bertram quality in materials-- The calipers show about .040" of difference( 1.125 normal--- wear spot-- 1.080. This wear area is just under and inch long on the shaft--I am not seeing any sign of cracks etc---any input?
