Please re-read my post. I mentioned the wire wheel only as a cleaning method AFTER welding to remove the burned anodize from the surface of the weld. Every marine welder I know uses this method. Additionally, as far as burning through anodize, of course you need to go hot. My point was that, using the right gas, you do NOT have to go alot hotter than normal and risk annealing your base metal and ruining the parts. Check out my link..
