That dreaded FG itch...

Well I think I just learned my first real lesson about fiberglass itch.

It all started last week. I was removing the core from the transom in my B20. I got out the old grinder and went to town removing tabbing, prepping for the new core. I always wear a good mask / respirator but after only 45 minutes or so I was completey white from head to toe.

I recalled reading Capt Patrick's article on FG itch, so I did everything he mentioned; cold shower, do not lather up, etc. After shower no problem, I grabbed my clothes and put them in the wash (by themselves not with the baby's clothes!)

Anyhow, last night I grabbed a pair of clean jeans out of the drawer and went into work... well the jeans that I grabbed were the same ones that I wore last week on the boat... I'll tell you what it was one one night of pure hell. I couldn't go anywhere to change and GM assembly plants are large places with lots of walking involved if you have a job like me... I was walking around all night as if I was sore from riding a horse!

So this morning, I went out and bought a tyvek suit, paint sock, etc. It may take me awhile, but I do learn!

Final question... are the jeans a lost cause or wil multiple washes make then soft and comfy again?

Learn from my mistake!!!!! Maybe Capt Patrick should add a note or word of caution to his article as well.

Ian.
