Greg,
Short answer: Forget it.
Long answer:
Assume right off the bat that you'll need to completely re-wire the boat, stem to stern.
I wouldn't trust the engines without a thorough engine survey by a qualified Yanmar Mechanic.
Cosmetically, the boat looks ok and most could be spruced up with a few days of sweat equity.
Doubt that the gen set is worth trying to salvage.
This B28 without engines & generator, & needing new wire, probably has a top end value in the $20k range. I'd limit my high bid to that figure or less...
Replacing the engines, (Yanmar 4s), generator, wiring, and associated restorations, (including refrigerator), you're looking to spend around $65k with a 6 month minium work load. Shipping from Liquordale to Teaxs will add another $3k.
In the end, your approx. total cost would be in the high $80s to low $90s with a winning bid of no more than $20k.
Then there's electronics... More $$$$
All that said, you'd be at the very high end of the value range for a B28 and there are a ton of B28s available on the market just needing a gas to diesel conversion.
Best regards,
Patrick
BTW, There's a B28 with Volvos for sell in Venice, LA that Vic, Andre, or one of the other Coonasses probably know. Asking $50k (Page 2 of the boats.com listings)...
