I used starboard, made a U shape that matches bottom of frame, measured, wedged it, and predrilled it. The frames are not real strong on the Scuppers and a screw too large will easily split it. Everyones needs are different, but my old 31's deck/fisherman in the stern is almost at water level when drifting. Wet feet were standard fare. Now that is nonexistant, and now I just hear the clicking of the closing flaps on the frames.
