Not sure of the size packing, but I always recommend 3 rings to start, cut at an angle to overlap, placed in aprox 120deg apart at the cut sections.

Not familiar with the GFO packing but I use and recommend the cheapest stuff available, that would be the ole Flax Packing. I have had problems with some of the impregnated packings such as teflon which will cut into the shaft. Others say its fine.
