shaft packing

Looking to repack my boxes with the GFO packing--I have 1 1/8" shafts--and original nylon screwed boxes---wondering if anyone knows what diameter I need and if 2 ft of it will be enough for 2 boxes--sold in 2 ft increments--How many rings does the faithful recommend
