I "think" they are just attached/glassed on to the hull. I have an impact crack and small hole on one of my strakes. It "appears" to be hollow, and there is not any water getting into the boat from the small hole. Its just in the strake.

Guys at my yard claimed that they have seen more than a few of these situations on B28's, and that its an issue to be addressed, but not a sinking risk. My first repair attempt (a quick wipe with thickened epoxy) lasted two years. This time, I plan to do the job as outlined below.
