Uhhhhh, wasn't really saying to neglect it. I think the reason why it's giving you the inpression that it is taking a long time to dry out is
1) that strake has a lot of internal volume- will hold several gallons of water if allowed
2) when the boat is out of the water only the water allowed to drain at that angle will.Open the crack up a bit more, tilt the bow down for a few hours, then raise the bow high.. you get the idea.
Also, on mine, the hull on the inside of the strake is kinda bare glass... not really finished. I wouldn't want to subject it to much saturation. Probably wouldn't be too much a problem, but for such a easy fix, it'd be a shame to let it go another year & find out you've got blisters or something on the inside of that area. Just grind it down & glass it shut...Then sand, fair, touch up with gelcoat, or barrier coat,spot prime & paint... That simple.It's like patching drywall, and it's a good excuse to drink beer.
