I can agree with the Garmin nods, though I went with C80 Raymarine. Found it just as friendly with plenty of expansion. Another main feature to check out is the charts you'll need. Try to make sure you pick a unit which uses a good chart for your area.

No matter what you choose, if you don't need the service of install and training. GO TO A BOAT SHOW. I saved more than $800 over consumers & seaTec, when I purchased at the Annapolis Boat show last winter. Other than that I did get a great price from my loacal yard if they did the install, which was also a fair price. I chose to do it myself as I like to do the easier things if I can.
