Gotta agree on the big color Garmins. I had a lot of help - da Judge, Pete Fallon, to name a few when I shopped for one at the FLL show a few years ago. Having a low vision issue, it was real important to me that the display not only be vivid, the numbers BIG, but also that the controls be simple and not subject to locking up if you pushed the wrong button. As Raleigh said (and he told me this before I shopped) you just about don't need the manual with the big Garmins. And the "quit" button always puts you back out of where you started a bad sequence of entries. It's as close to foolproof as they come. I have the Garmin 2010C color unit, and the new one, the 3010C is about the same with more obscene memory features - let's face it, I can use 3,000 waypoints, the 3010 has 4,000. I have all the waypoints I'll ever use and some too, and I'm at about 100 out of 3,000.
Anyway, the answer is that having had all the bells and whistles from Loran A (with the o-scope) to this, the Garmins are far and away the best, in my humble view.
