A/C duct work?

12,000 btu air conditioning unit will be installed and the manual says to use 6" insulated duct work. There will be a T off of the unit to send air aft to the 4" head vent and air to the forward part of the boat. The run forward will be about 36" and then have a 4" reducer Y to send air into the main cabin and also into the V berth area.

I picked up the insulated duct work at home depot and it looks like it will be pretty easy to use but I was wondering if it would be easier to use 6" PVC for the entire setup. Can this be done? The gray PVC conduit is 30+ years old nad has held up flawlessly so I was thinking of running the entire A/C system with PVC.

Any thoughts or suggestions? Also...where can I find small vents, all the marine places have too big of vents and home depot only has house floor registers. We want something a little bigger than what is in the dash of a car.
