Pink Battery Potion Question

I tried the recommended pink battery potion from JC Whitney today. Put 2 ounces in each cell. Each cell needed in addition to that, 1 to 3 ounces of DI water. Guess I need to check water levels more often.

Anyhow, about a half hour after I did it I noticed my batteries burping up their electrolyte very slowly, though the vent caps. I did not overfill them. It seems the pink stuff is causing gas bubbles (I sat and watched it) that while releasing are taking some Battery water with it. The water they released was definitely acidic.

I kept wiping the water off the top of the batteries, every 10 minutes or so for about 4 hours, and it kept going but ever slower. Each 6D battery burped up enough electrolyte to soak a hand rag. Probably still dribbling a last little bit right now.

Should I be worried about this? It seems that I must be losing some of the acid in the batteries. Anybody else get their batteries start farting like this after adding the pink stuff?

I think it would have been better add the pink stuff when water levels are a little low, let them gas off their sulfation reactions (or whatever business is going on) then top off the water level the next day.
