6bta turbo/exhaust arrangement

While in Key West in February I saw a B31 with 6bta's. The port engine had the turbo/exhaust arrangement the mirror opposite of what I had thought(up until then)was the only arrangement; i.e. intake to the port and exhaust to the starboard.This is a real problem for me with the new Cabrera engine covers. The clearance is such that on the port engine I will have to cut the cover and fabricate a bubble to go around the exhaust. Soooo....
First, is this an option that I don't know about?
Second, can I reverse the order of the items involved (with some finagling) to put the exhaust on the port side?
Third, HELP!
