I have a 1962 Bertram 31 SF and my numbers are in the same form as Walter's. I found my numbers on the portside bulkhead under the V Berth. The numbers are written in marker on a tag epoxied onto the bulkhead, 31-163 and under those is a date in early Oct of 1961. Sorry I couldn't be of more help.
