Bob, mine is about 6 inches or so above the bootstripe. When the boat is loaded offshore, it goes under a little in waves, but not for long. I ran the exhaust through a two muffler setup, with a loop going up nearly to gunnale height and back down. Haven't experienced any problems, have 150 hours on the meter. I have to see water coming out - already burned up an impellor when I got trash in the strainer, but caught it quick on one of my routine glances over the side. Running it into the engien exhaust would take this away, and would do nothign for the exhaust coming back in the cockpit at anchor or tied up for the night.

By the way, just had my injector pumps recalibrated to get more hp, now I need more prop - again!
