Great New Chumming Method

Last Wed. evening, we unsuccessfully chummed a flat of pogies at the Midnight Lump. Plan "B" was to fish Medusa (a floating rig) for Tuna at night. A few miles from Medusa, we were hailed by the rig and told to keep at least 2 miles away due to some underwater radio-somthing-or-other.
While spending the next 45 minutes drifting around and trying to figure out plan "C", we noticed the boat's lights had attracted a large number of flying fish. Out of desperation (and thinking it might be cool) I broke out my new semi-auto shotgun and opened fire.
The flying fish were surprisingly easy to hit -- like shooting fish in a barrel (or over one in this case). A split second after the fish would hit the water, a tuna would nail it. We found that casting a diamond jig at the flying fish as soon as it got knocked down would result in an instant hook-up.
A sore shoulder and 2 boxes of shells later, produced 4 full ice chests of tuna (including 3 nice yellowfin). Color me "redneck", but I'll never leave the dock again without my shot-gun and at least 2 boxes of shells.
