Diesel Range

Was wondering whether anyone had some thoughts on the range we might get with our new diesels. The new engines are the Yanmar 315's and we have the original gas tank which I believe is about 175 gallons (the boat is a 1963 sportfish model). Do folks think this is adequate for trips to the Hudson Canyon from the South Shore of LI? If another tank was to be added, what is the best location and size for the tank? Thanks.
