Most places will not fill tanks or rent stuff if you can't show proof of certification. I am certified and live in NJ where the water is freggin cold. I just hold my breath and dive under with a green scrub pad in hand. Make sure you wear nothing loose fitting. It would be a real bad day to hung up under the boat with just a lung full of air. If I lived in the South, like FLA, with it's clear warm water I would probably spend more time diving and shooting fish than trolling for them.
