Doc, you remain the happiest man I have ever known, and we are all better off for it. Your email jokes are the light of my day. Now go turn that neon sign and and shake, not stir that Extra Dray.
Guys, the skivvy on the 4BTA's is that Cummins stood behind the injector problem 100%, even for the ones out of warranty. It was a problem with the Bosch injectors where the tips could not take the hi temps and broke off in a couple hundred hours. I have not heard of one problem since Bosch redesigned the injectors and Cummins replaced them all free and repaired any resultant damage, also free. Now the "who paid for that" is probably putting a lot of lawyer's kids thru Ivy League schools, but such is life.
There are over 7 million B series Cummins engines out there, and they got enough sense to know they can't screw up. That's why I bought Cummins stock years ago, realizing they made a superior product, and wham-bang techhie stuff won't last, but slow turning diesels will. I think the 4B 250's are a good option for the B31. I happen to think the 6B's are probably better in the long run, but by a small margin. After all, more weight in a B31 is good. Best riding B31 I was ever on had the 2400# 3208's in it and it would bash thru anything.
Have one for me, Doc, and see you at the UVI.
