JJ, no, you are not foolish. The B31 hull is indeed bulletproof as evidenced by 1860 of them with never a hull failure except caused by very hard objects, like rocks, hit at very high speed. Capt. Patrick will chime in with the solution, but my experience with these boats, and it's considerable, is that the hull and structure is always sound, no need to sruvey beyound looking for impact holes, and those can always be galssed back to new. No need to reinforce. Lots of us forget the B31 is a self-supporting hull, no bulkheads, no structural stringers. Now chew on that for a while.
