Cummins 4B?

I'm sure this has been touched before but I am going to have to ask. The Cummins 4B seems the perfect match for a 31 (my opinion of course I read the Yanmar/Cummins dialogues and don't wish to rehash that). The engine is light, good torque and horsepower and it allows the powertrain to sit further forward in the engine box (better shaft angle).
The rumblings I've heard is that cruise should be between 24 and 26 kts (depending on how far the silver levers are pushed)
Is there a durability issue?
Are there any known performance issues boat/engine?
I'd like to go 4B but thought I'd throw this in the ring and see where it shakes out.
