B31 site fund raiser is on

OK guys & gals, here we go again to raise some money to keep this site free and open to all. A little background for those not familiar with how this place works. This website belongs lock, stock, and barrel to Capt. Patrick. Many of us send donations to keep it free and open to all vs. a pay site. Think most of us will agree that has gone a long way towards making it probably the top boating website, not just for Bertrams, but for everyone dedicated to great boats. I, for one, know that for every buck I've sent to keep this going, I've gotten huge returns.
Not just in boat knowledge, not avoiding repeating a mistake someone else told me about, but forming a firm and lifetime friendship with people I now can call my best friends. Sounds corny, but it is the truth - most of us have become best friends, the kind that will get on a plane and come to your aid if your ass really gets in a jam anywhere in the world. It has evolved into that.
So, with that background, and in the context that it is important to support this site, I'm going to start an auction, think of it as an ebay sort of thing, to sell off some merchandise that the Faithful have generously donated for this deal.
We have four custom stand up rods, two 30's and two 50's that you will drool over. I plan to offer them as a full set later this week. We will by and by offer a CD ROM with all the history of the B31 from Dr. Tom Jacob, a real work of art. And other stuff is being prepared for this fund raiser by Faithful from all over. It will be an event that may take several weeks. But, it ain't going to the next level till the previous level is sold out.
So to kick it off, we have for auction 10 cookbooks by our own Capt. Walter K. from Montauk, coffee table quality books. Your wife will love it, not just for the recipes' but also it is a good looking coffee table book, good to keep or a great gift.
So, let's think thru how we are going to do the auction. . . . OK, hearing no objection, it will be a reserve auction - I have a number that the cookbooks will go for, if you make it, you get a book. To make it simple, I'll give you a hint. $100 donation to this site, straight to Capt. Patrick, will get you a fine coffee table cookbook, and I'll pay the shipping to your door, as the author, Walter, did to mine. I'll even autograph it with a personal message and forge Walter's too if he says it's ok.
So let's go, if you want a book, just post up under this, "I'm in for a Walter cookbook, UV" and you are in. If you don't want to post it, just send the same to me here at home via email.
