Thanks for the info Capt. Pat. I know you're probably right about durability. The stock Bertram factory hydraulic tabs on my boat have survived for 18+ years so far, and I've heard some gripes about the electric ones. Although some of the boat wiring I've seen done by "installation professionals" makes me wonder why anything they do works for longer than 2 weeks, and that maybe lousy wiring is part of the reported problems. My old dealer-installed electric Lencos were flawless only after I re-wired them myself, as has been the case with almost anything electrical on any boat that I let anyone else do.
I tend to get carried away with the electronic gadgets, ignoring the KISS rule. When I (temporarily) run out of upgrades and Projects, I will probably give in to tempation and try the new neato tab cylinders anyway. Maybe I'll leave the old ones on too and drain the system of fluid, kind of a ready-to-go backup system if the electric ones fail (why not?).
The Lenco's I knew about retract automatically only when you kill the power to them. I didn't know there were tabs that automatically retract when you throttle down too (stop giving me more ideas)
