JK, David - well, it's all in what you want. My view remains that the direct coupled 1800 rpm 3 cyl. sets are better than the one cyl. belt driven 3.5 ones that run at 2800 or 3600.
Now the notion that too big a genset is bad, since we are talking about "big" being a 5.5 vs. a "small" being a 3.5 is total bulls**t. JK, you had too many red drinks in FLL, but a mitigating factor is I sprung for some of those. On the other hand, the Phasor and Next Gen 3.5 single cyl. belt driven sets in the new heavy fiberglass box is a neat, compact unit. The Prof's is as quiet as my 5.5.
Now I ain't in the mood to get in a fire fight over gensets, I'm just gonna tell ya'll what I think. My view is that if you can fit a 5.5 or 6 KW direct drive 1800 rpm Kubota 3 cyl. set on the outside or either diesel, that's the way to go. Phasor is the best, and they will custom build it for you. Need a dipstick on the other side? They will do it. After all, they buy a lot of Kubota engines and Newage gen ends, then put them together. Phasor and Next Gen use a common "bonehead" shutdown system for high cooling water and low oil pressure that I find nice vs. a circuit board approach on the others.
I have thousands of hours on my Phasor. It is so simple it is a laugh.
Anyway, my thoughts, which as always, are my thoughts.
