I'm running my 20 Bahia Mar with the original Mercruiser 165. Given your desire to make long offshore runs to the Bahamas, I'd opt for the security of twins although they don't make for easy handling on shallow water flyfishing flats. If thats what you like (I do), consider a set of Lenco electric motors either on trim tabs or mounted on the outboards themselves.
