Keep the exisitng tabs and hinges, replace the hydraulic actuator cylinders with the Lenco cylinders. Then you can strip all the old hydraulic pump/reservior stuff. There are different retrofit models for different transom configurations. See http://www.lencomarine.com
I haven't researched it thoroughly yet, is next year's project. But the kit I had on my pro-line was easy to install and worked great.
