John, so it turned out to be the cutlass? I bought new struts from High Tide that came with 1 3/8" bearings, then decided to go with 1 1/2" shafts. Had to cut the unneeded bearings out with a sawzall (this was before I installed the shafts, of course). Ordered the thin wall bearings for 1 1/2", had to hone the inside of the strut a little with a brake cylinder hone, then used UV's method of cooling the bearing down and tapping it in. Drilled and tapped new holes for new set screws, and they've been fine for four years now. I tried to use a puller to remove the "old" bearings, but broke it - they were pressed in, and tight. Pulled my injector pumps Sunday, having them recalibrated to higher horsepower.
