Bruce, measure twice, cut once. On the other hand, me & my late father in law were building a boathouse many years ago, working from opposite sides on the roof sturcture. This was not precision work, we were using chain saws for the finish trim. We both were busy with our respective sides and met in the middle with my side a foot higher than his. We just stared at each other and I blurted out "well s**t, we may want a bigger boat on this side". He, as always, just laughed and we tugged it all into more or less plumb with a couple of 10 ton come-a-longs and shot a few thousnad nails to hold it.

Did not matter, some hurricane blew it away anyway.
