I can see that this debate could go on forever, so how about the nuts and bolts side of it. Is one powerplant easier to install than the other? Meaning engine bed modifications, exhaust, water intakes, etc..
Are the performance curves the same for both? I,ve heard urban legends of 32 knt. cruise at 3 miles/ gallon. I currently get a cruise speed of 25-27 knts with 26-30 gallons/ hour consumtion and WOT speed of 30-33 knts. with a whopping 56 gallons / hour consumtion. Needless to say I don't stay at that throtle setting for long. Can I exspect the same kind of speeds with a lot less consumption? I've also read some postings that trim tabs will be needed with the cummins, due to exta weight considerations. Is this true?
Thanks for all the help in advance,
Matt
