Ernest and Mike,
The Frichter Brothers, now that was a crew. Jimmy and his older brother Grumpy used to own the houseboat just in front of ours in Venice. The last boat they owned was a 1967 31 Bahia Mar named "BOHICA". They sold out several years back and I have not seen them since. The stories these guys used to tell over a drink or twelve made my sides hurt from laughter...hanging the GI Rodeo Qeen from the gin pole...your get the picture. I get a chuckle just thinking back on it.
The Yap lures that were made here in Nawlins are great on whites and blues. The name of the guy that had the molds is Bobby St Germain (spell?). We had quite a selection but have lost nearly all of them to fish...nuff said.
Justin Roper, of the "Trio", now has a line of baits, Makaira Pulling Lures, that look pretty good. They are named after the platforms we all pull around...Mars,Brutus,Moxie, Medusa etc. A couple of which resemble the old yaps. Check out Justin's website...www.makairapullinglures.com
Phone 225.926.3764I will walk over to Prof Sport Shop over lunch today to see if they have any old yaps left. All this lure talk has got me in a frenzie.
