Ernest,
I believe Gerald Cap from Morgan City La made those baits. Sent them all over the world. Went on a two day trip w/him in the 70's on his boat, single engine 38', Bruno, I believe (UV knows). Someone still runs it out of Venice-"Bender Blue". Saw his "shop" in his house and looked at a bunch of lures and how he made them.He was crazy for those Marlinwent on the water. Didn't use outriggers, pulled off the bridge. A 190 YF swallowed one of his baits so deep that we couldn't cut it out, threw the head away with the plastic and hook still down there, and a YF hit one on the transom so hard it broke the hook, shot it back in the cockpit from the depth charge looking boil it made. People called us on SSB from all over talking to him about baits.
I heard he hurt his back real bad and had to quit offshore.
Andre F.
PS Matt sent me a dynamite looking bait I can't wait to pull. Thanks Matt.
