All I know is everything is smooth and I'm only getting 6 months out of impellers now. I replaced the face plates but no cams yet as I was confused a little as they feel very smooth. I guesss the surface area wears of course. My canal is 7 feet deep however the channel is not. So running a mile in shallow water untill I get to the back bay all the time must take it's toll. I bought two new cams. I also switched back to the rubber neopreme impellers from the nitrile. Less pressure but a little more volume. No difference in engine temp still 167 Deg at cruise in the winter as now.
