Your painting prep is fine. Use a good quality automtive paint or better if you have some Imron left from your last job that'll work fine.As far as corrosion protection use Tefgel paste for an anti-oxident on the shaft to coupling and coupling to bolts contact. If you do that you will have no problem in removing that coupling ever! Dave K
