Dumb question of the month

I've had my B31 for 17 months and now I've got to replace some instrument light bulbs. I unscrewed the dial flange and that didn't help and next I tried getting my hand up under the instrument board but I couldn't reach or see what I was doing. At that point I stopped because I have a habit of screwing up or breaking simple things on boats. The brand of instrument dials is "VDO". When you guys stop laughing, let me know how the heck to get to the bulbs!
