I agree with you 100%. If the radar is mounted to the aluminum which is part of the half tower, it will eventually snap off.

There is a tremendous amount of force up on the top, I can't imagine how much torque is generated while the top is twisting and flexing under way.

And, if you could build a top that was strong enough with core material, imagine how much that would weigh!
