Got a customer with a pair of 3208TA's that I keep running.

Last time I saw them run was mid summer. He had hurricane damage and was in the yard for 5 months.

Last summer I tweaked the stb injector pump and both engines ran clean.
He launched the boat and ran back to the dock.

I pulled heat exchangers, pumps and complete serviced both engines.

Upon starting them up, they smoked like a vegetarian at a barbeque.

Knowing that's things just don't change that much on both engines I was trying to figure out what the problem might be.

After a few hours of checkin things out, the common denominator was fuel.

I asked if he did anything to the fuel at which time a lite bulb went off.

He pulled out a qt of home made brew someone gave him to dump in the tank.
After looking at the mixture I determined it was somewhere between oil and diesel fuel.

No information on the label. That's where the smoke is comming from.

Please ask your mechanic first before you pour anything into the fuel. Some of the stuff on the market can actually do damage to certain types of injector pumps.

There are some good additives that will help with the cetain rating, reduce waxing, lube the injector pump and reduce smoking in some cases.
