Randy - take your 'old' pump off and pull the impeller. Take your finger and run it around the inside of the housing where the cam hits the housing. Feel for a ridge at each end of the cam. My experience has been that the metal that the cam is made of is harder than the pump body, so after a while the body wears down more than the cam, leaving a razor edge on each end of the cam that will shred impellers. The fix (thanks, Bruce, who got us home from a UVI doing this) is to remove the cam, just one screw, and file the cam ends down to fit flush with the pump body. Put some Permatex under the screw when reinstalling the cam to avoid a vacuuum leak.
