PlasTeak has little strength[stiffness in itself]. But, I found it to have some other great quailities. First, as a material, when wet and unlike wood, fiberglass, metal, it has No slip for footing[great traction]. The other quality is, althought not exact in appearance to teak, it's bullit proof to fade from sun or moisture damage and needs No! upkeep, I think it looks great. I used it in place of the teak trim around my 31 deck. It has been exposed year round for the past 7 years. A friend of mine has used it on his 23' center consol Rabalo as teak gunnel covers and you have to look closely to tell.
