Steve - Walter is correct. Both the 6BT 210's and 6BTA 250's are rated at 2600 RPM, but should be propped to reach 2650 or better at WOT to keep from overloading them. You can cruise them all day long at 2400. The 20% off WOT the surveyor told you is just a rule of thumb on diesels in general. The 6BTA 300's are rated at 2800 rpm, so he may have been confused. Your rpm numbers are just fine.
