The width of the 28 at 6" above the waterline is a little over 8'. I made my platform so it is inside of the exhausts this way I can easily see the exhaust water flow and I don't have to worry about catching the corner when backing into a slip. My swim platform is 7' long and about 18" wide. Buiding your own is not that difficult and the teak was about $250.
