John: It should work OK. I went to PSS Shaft Seals and have never regretted it. After my boat sits in the boathouse all winter the bilge is powder dry. I brush and vacuum it out. After three years they are maintenance free. No moving parts touch the shaft, so there is no wear. I know there is some debate among the Faithful about them, but I highly recommend them. Rawleigh
