I will disagree with the no wobble statement. However my no wobble and yours are probly two different animals. A brand new 1-1/2" cutless bearing will have .004 to .01 shaft clearance. To me that will give wobble or "play". If the shaft is tight and won't budge you have an alignment issue. Take a close look forward and aft of the bearing with the shaft in place, chances are its got gaps and the opposite end has squished rubber. Thats miss alignment and cause no play. Pull the shaft and look thru the bearing and you will see how the cutless wore, it will tell the story of your alignment issues. Worn equally all around and your fine.

300 hours tells me you have a problem or are running in dirty water. Sediment kills the bearings. Or you got fishing line rapped up around the shaft and it went into the cutless, that would eat up a bearing in no time flat, your shaft will tell you that as it eats up shaft too.
