These are sleeves that go on the shaft which are the bearing surface that rotates within an outer sleeve pressed into the strut. No more wear on the shafts. Apparently, according to the site, this is how the cutlass bearings on the PT boats worked. I haven't tried them, but from a common sense point of view it seems like it would work. Rawleigh
